Coaching Related

Who will coach my daughter?
Coaches are a mixture of trained volunteers, varsity high school girls lacrosse players, and high school girls coaches.
Your daughter will meet her coach at the first practice. For special requests, please indicate at your community registration.

Weather Related
What do we do if the weather is bad?
Practice and games will have a 30 minute delay for any thunder or lightning.  Severe weather may cause cancellations.

What equipment is required for my daughter?
Each player must have a girls lacrosse stick, eye googles, and a molded mouth guard for all practices and games.  You will need to purchase this equipment as IGLA does not loan it unless specifically mentioned.

Do I need special shoes?
No, soccer/softball cleats or athletic shoes are appropriate.

What if my daughter needs a mouth guard today?
Any sporting goods store will have a mouth guard. Mold the mouth guard before your daughter comes to lacrosse.  They will not be provided by IGLA and are required to play so please make sure one is brought by the participant.

Practice and Game Format/Schedule
What is the practice format?

Practice is once a week (on a weeknight) for 1.5 hours and consists of skill development, scrimmaging, and team building. The first 2 weeks of the season (1 weeknight and 1 weekend day) will be all practices before games begin.

What is the game format?
Games will start 1 week into the season. Games take place on Sunday, and are 15-20 minute halves with a 5 minute half time. Most games will take place on Sunday, but there may be some exceptions.

What day will my daughter practice?
Your community brochure or IGLA flyer should indicate which weeknight practice will take place.  You can also view each practice location's specific information on their Community Page.

How do I find my daughter's practice and game schedule?
Click on Outdoor Fall/Spring Leagues.  You can find information on each individual practice location there.
 

Where will my daughter's game be located?
Check the game schedule and locate the field location and city that the game is located. You can find directions here to each practice and game field.

Teams
How are the teams formed?

Your daughter will be placed on a team based on her age: 3rd & 4th, 5th & 6th, and 7th&8th. We try to accommodate friend and community requests. We can not guarantee 100% that these request will be granted, but we will do our best.

How do I make a friend request for my daughter?
Communicate this info on the IGLA Player Information Form

What is Level 4:  7th/8th/9th A?
These teams are for 7th-9th grade players who meet the qualifications.  More information 

An IGLA Director must verify that the player has fulfilled the requirements.  These teams will practice twice a week and will have a higher league cost.  Please note that there must be enough players who have fulfilled the requirements at a certain location in order to have a team there.

Uniform
What is my daughter's uniform?
Your daughter will receive a jersey and hair ribbon. If applicable in your registration and on the IGLA Steps to Register form, please indicate your daughter's jersey size. 
Players can wear their choice of athletic bottoms.

When does my daughter get her uniform?
Your daughter will receive her uniform at practice before the first game.

When does my daughter need to wear her uniform?
Only at games.

Refund Policy
What is your refund policy?
Illinois Girls Lacrosse Association understands that occasionally a player needs to withdraw from a program. Please notify us as soon as possible. 

Following are the guidelines for refunds.  Please note, some Park Districts have their own Refund Policy that would be followed instead of this one.

  • More than 1 week from start of program – 100% refund.
  • 1 week from start of program – 85% refund.
  • Less than 48 hours from start of program – 0% refund.
If you are withdrawing due to illness or injury before the start of the program, please forward us a note from your doctor and we will gladly refund 85% of your team fee. If you are withdrawing due to illness or injury once the program begins, your fee will be prorated and we will issue a refund once we receive a note from your doctor.  Please send doctor note to:  IGLA, 20 Danada Square West, Suite 289, Wheaton, IL 60189
